Career Print E-mail

ImageIt is well documented that Ross’ successful television career began after reaching the final of Master Chef 1993.
He was soon to be picked by Joan Collins to appear in a healthy eating video – an offer that the young Kiwi could not turn down! Joan is often quoted as saying that Ross is her favourite chef and that one of her much loved party canapés is a recipe of Ross’: Baby Potatoes and Caviar.
In actual fact, Ross feels very comfortable working in television as he has been appearing in front of the camera since he was seventeen years old. Back in New Zealand, to see his way through university, Ross signed up with a model agency and appeared in many advertising campaigns.

Ross went on to form his own catering company, serving food to the rich and famous, nobility and royalty. Ross once worked with seventy staff to cater for the Turner Prize - this was such a success that he was asked to cater for the Tate Gallery Director’s wedding!

The catering company is no longer but Ross is still very much in demand. He has run the restaurant at The International Boat Show in Southampton. Not only did Ross create the menu but also designed the restaurant attending to all the details, including the china and linen. Ross organised the canapés for the 200 VIPs at a Friends of the Earth Benefit Concert for the Big Ask campaign. With no kitchen to speak of and quiet needed during performances Ross managed to get out 2100 delicious canapés to the guests.

Ross loves teaching and demonstrating the art of cooking, and regularly appears at internationally renowned cookery schools such as Villa Valentina and Nairn’s Cook School. He is also to be seen at the major food festivals, including The Gourmet Food Festival at the Cape in South Africa.
